I am the author of five published books. My novel, I Wouldn't Leave Rome to Go to Heaven, was published in March 2008. I am currently at work on a historical novel about the life-long love of Ivan Turgenev for the opera singer Pauline Viardot-Garcia. It's been a fascinating journey, as I meet the characters who peopled their world — Tolstoy, Meyerbeer, Gounod, Rossini, Henry James, Charles Dickens — and travel with them from Russia to London to Paris to Baden-Baden. My memoir, Marked for Life, about growing up with a birthmark that covered nearly half my face, was published by Harmony, a division of Random House, in June 2003. I founded and edit an online weekly magazine, www.InRomeNow.com. During the more than two decades I spent living in Los Angeles, I was a founder of L.A. Style magazine, Sí Magazine and the L.A. Weekly. My articles have appeared in Metropolitan Home, More, Town and Country and Westways. My writing workshops, limited to six participants, and held in the in the relaxed atmosphere of a spacious Rome apartment atop the Janiculum Hill, or under a shady umbrella in the garden, are tailored to improve the skills and unlock the creativity of published authors and beginning writers alike.Group and private sessions are available. One-on-one coaching sessions can also be arranged via Skype.
